M&C came up winners in a tough encounter at Croydon RFC last Saturday, winning 12-19. Croydon were the first to get their names on the point's sheet, going ahead with a try in the corner in the first ten minutes. Despite this, the side didn't let their heads drop and in fact lead the half 5-7 thanks to a try from winger George Whelton.

The second half continued in much of the same vein, with Croydon dominating possession, but not making much with it, opting for short hard crash balls which M&C seemed content to handle for most of the game. It was only through an unfortunate turnover from a touchline drop kick that allowed Croydon to once again take the lead. This lead once again was short lived, with M&C scoring our second try of the day with 15 mins still to play. Mitcham final points came in the last play of the game. Owing to fairly worful lineouts in the game, M&C's Hooker opted to launch the ball over line, with an M&C player catching the loose ball and diving over for our third of the day.

Mitcham & Carshalton Men's go again on Saturday 17th September, taking on Woking Away in the first game of the season. 3pm KO.
